CTO Enterprises encourages a healthy lifestyle. On July 28, 2018, several employees participated in Manteno Triathlon, Duathlon Relay which benefits the Manteno Veterans Home. The triathlon consists of swim; 400 meters, bike; 11 miles and run; 5K and the duathlon consist of run; 1 mile, bike; 11 mile and run; 5K.

Partnered with SOAR, SPF provided one team for the triathlon and 3 teams for the duathlon.

Healthy employees make better employees

Doctor’s advise us to eat healthy food and exercise. Walking is great exercise. There’s been a push from news reports to social media recently to take better care of yourself. The benefits of yoga, eating right and meditation are all over the news. A recent trend is companies taking the health and wellness of their employee seriously. A healthy worker is at work everyday and working better. When there’s less employee absences, the company benefits with better production.

Those who start on the road to be healthier are eager to spread their knowledge around. Like a domino effect, healthy employee implements healthy changes at home for their own families. A benefit is savings on health insurance.

Bringing health and wellness to a company also makes employees feel appreciated and cared for. A feeling that they matter and that can bring loyalty and less turnover.

Research shows how meditation in the workplace can benefit everyone. There’s stresses that weren’t there many years ago. Technology keeps everyone connected so sometimes it’s hard to disconnect from work and the stress that goes with it. At least 20-30 minutes of quiet meditation is recommended daily. This can be broken up to increments of 10 minutes at a time. Many breaks are 10-15 minutes and can be used for this purpose. Encourage employees to use this time for quiet meditation or reflection.

Some employees may not always have the means to eat as healthy as they should. Providing healthy snacks of fruits and veggies is another benefit. This gives them a boost in the right direction and encourages them to make other healthy changes as well. A gym membership goes great with healthy eating. This encourages a well rounded healthy lifestyle.
